Graeme, the founder of Siskin Projects, speaks about the business and his background:
I founded the forerunner to Siskin in 2018, and I’ve been establishing and running successful small businesses since 1999 – I previously founded an award-winning decorating and refurbishment company which was distinguished by its thoughtful, assured service. This business continues to prosper under its new owner.
My practical foundation comes from my dad, Gordon, who ran his own electrical services business for over 40 years and is also a gifted woodworker, builder and renovator. I’ve also learned a great deal from skilled friends working as designers, cabinetmakers and builders. The five years I spent in the corporate world gave me valuable business and project management skills, and I developed these further during four years of formal property management, when I had responsibility for a Grade I-listed building.
By operating today on a deliberately small scale, and by working with a limited number of clients who value consistency, careful judgement and calm execution, I’m able – and proud – to emulate the courteous and responsive reliability that underpinned my dad’s approach for so many years.
What all this means for my clients is that they get someone who thinks like a project manager while working like a craftsman. The administrative friction, communication gaps and coordination headaches that typically come with small maintenance jobs largely disappear. That’s what clients mean when they describe our approach as being “on another level”.
